Training Recap 1/13-19/14

Greetings intrepid readers!  Last week was a good one when it came to training, though sadly it was also the first one in which I missed an SOS (Something of Substance) workout.  Still, the workout was missed on account of bag-sitting at a Hub Running Club group run, which is about as good a reason I can think of to miss a run.  Plus, it turned into a date night with Rebecca, so…double victory!  Still, I hit 38 miles for the week, which is solid enough.  I’m feeling pretty good at this point in my Boston Marathon training, but I can still use your help on the fundraising side!  If you’d like to help me reach my goal for the American Liver Foundation’s Run For Research Team, please check out my fundraising page here!

Here’s the run-down:

Monday – Rest Day

Tuesday – SOS Day!  6 x 1/2 mile with 1/4 mile rest plus 2 miles worth of warm-up and 1.5 of cool down.  I averaged 7:46 for the interval section, which I was fairly pleased with!

Wednesday – 6 miles on the treadmill in 49:06 (8:11 pace)

Thursday – Unexpected rest day.

Friday – 6 on the ‘mill at 8:07 pace.

Saturday – 14 mile long run with the American Liver Foundation’s Run For Research team!  This was my longest run in quite some time, possibly even dating back to the TARC Spring Classic 50K way back in April!  We went 14.1 miles in 1:53:18, a pace of 8:02, definitely faster than I would have expected for this time of year.  Here’s what it looked it like several graphical representations, taken from Strava.

Sunday – I capped the week off with a relatively easy 4 miles at the gym.

And that was my week!

How is your training going these days?
