2014 Boston Marathon Guide to Weekend Events

It’s most wonderful time of the year! It will come as little surprise to you, dead reader, that I love absolutely everything about Boston Marathon weekend, whether or not I’m running in it. Of course, I just happen to be running in it this year, making it all the more awesome to be a part of.   There will be plenty of time to talk about the actual race, likely in a race report post-race, but the point of this post is to try to put together some sort of compendium, a “guide,” if you will, of the various goings-on this race weekend.

So, here’s what I’ve found so far:

All Weekend Stuff

Boston Marathon Expo

The centerpiece of the weekend experience.  Pretty much every company having anything to do with running has a booth at the expo, with the notable exception of Nike, which doesn’t attend expos for races it is not the sponsor of.  Here’s a list of exhibitors this year.  The expo also features a number of free seminars, a list of which can be found here.

Some cool things to keep an eye out for at the Expo:

Level Renner will be at the Karhu booth throughout the weekend, check out the link for times.

Here’s what to expect:

  • First three people each day to show up at the Karhu booth and tweet, Facebook post or mention the Karhu/LVL promotion will get a limited edition Karhu t-shirt.
  • All individuals who stop at the booth can also enter to win a free pair of Karhu Fluids courtesy of New England Running Company. One pair will be given away at the end of each day of the expo. Runners who post/tweet about the Karhu/LVL promotion will receive additional entries into our raffle.

Karhu also has an awesome t-shirt they’ll be selling, with $10 from each purchase going to the Boston Firefighter’s Memorial Fund.

Janji will be selling a cool shirt as well that benefits The Greater Boston Food Bank, as in each purchase gives 8 meals to a hungry Bostonian.

Old South Church has put together an amazing project, encouraging knitters and crocheters from around the country to send in blue and yellow scarves to distribute to marathon runners.  Here’s the description of the project: Marathon Athletes: In this year of remembrance and hope, we will wrap you in love and prayer by presenting you with a handmade blue and gold scarf. The scarves are a labor of love by knitters across the country and beyond, specifically for this year’s athletes. May the scarf warm your spirit as you maneuver a new city, as you carry the weight of a somber anniversary year, and as you look down 26.2 miles with resolve.

On Friday, you can pick up a scarf from 1-6 p.m. on Boylston St., 100 feet from the finish line.

Also, yours truly will be at the Skechers Performance booth around 6 p.m.  Come by and say hi!

The next step to install ATI 9800 Pro driver is to locate the slide
bar saying. A faster processor gives better speed,
efficiency and performance and hence the desktop with
such a processor will have a higher price.
